This page will showcase stitching pieces that are not related to either the the EGA or the ANG.
The first one shown is Baroque, designed by Jean Hilton. I loved working on it, it was a joy. I had trepidations about it, in fact I looked at it on the wall in my favorite local shop and passed it up. The only needlepoint I had done to that point was the kits available in the 1970s that already had the design stitched and you only stitched the continental or tent stitch background, very boring. I had done some plastic canvas which uses many of the same stitches, but nothing of this complexity. My sister and I went back to the shop a few weeks later for their annual 20% off everything in stock, customer appreciation sale and I looked again. I walked away and picked up a few other things, came back and looked, walked away, came back and looked, etc for about 40 minutes before I finally caved and bought it. I thought that at least I could look at it and let it age in my stash along with several other charts and kits. It had other ideas, however and I found myself back at the shop a couple of weeks later to kit it up and got it framed up as soon as I got home. I was stitching merrily away by the next morning. I honestly didn't know that Hilton and Amadeus stitches were supposed to be difficult. The instructions were clear and I breezed through them along with the rest of the piece. I think that it took a total of about 3 weeks work to finish the stitching. Now if it would just be as willing to tell me how it wants to be finished...framed for the wall, a pillow, a piece of a garment, a tote bag. There will be more of Jean's designs added to my stash and finished pieces within the near to medium future.
